Biography
For 25 years Judi was a public school teacher in Texas. She taught at all levels from K-12. To her, the principles that are important for classroom learning are aligned with those that shape the League the Women Voters. Thus, she says that she was naturally drawn to the League of Women Voters.
What are those principles that the League and education share?
Judi says that first of all is INCLUSION - all students matter, just as all citizens matter. Next is OWNERSHIP - students and citizens alike, become responsible for their own futures. Finally, there is CONNECTION - through a process of learning and developing skills for listening and for problem solving, there is a sense of feeling relevant and connected to others for the common good.
Judi believes that the classroom and the League both offer a healthy backdrop in which democracy will grow and thrive, making a better world in which to live.
