Biography
I'm a Houston native, and met and married my husband Tad Fowler while we were both in school at the University of Texas. We moved back to Tad's hometown of Amarillo in 1982. Though I love Houston and still have family there, the Texas panhandle is now home. I have been fortunate to work for and with great people here, starting with Dee and Oth Miller in the early 1980s. After teaching at Amarillo College for several years, I worked at the Potter County Attorney's Office from 1986 to 1992, when I was elected County Attorney. I served three terms in office, from 1993 to 2004, and three additional years in the 47th District Attorney's office. In 2008 I joined the City of Amarillo Municipal Court as a judge, and then served as presiding judge from 2013 to 2018. I am now happily retired from paying work, and served as LWV Amarillo president from June 2019 to May 2023. Tad and I have a cabin on Mulberry Creek in Armstrong County in an area that was part of the historic JA Ranch. We spend most of our time here, hiking, clearing brush and raising four donkeys.
